My Copenhagen Bucket List:

One month has already passed since I arrived in Copenhagen, and I can’t really wrap my mind around that. Time is absolutely flying by and I feel like I’m really getting to know Copenhagen more and more everyday. Considering how fast one month went, I want to make a bucket list for the next three months of everything I want to do before I leave Denmark. I have a couple of “Copenhagen guides” from past students who studied abroad here, and I’ve compiled my own list based off their recommendations! So, without further ado, let’s dive in.

Towers to climb:

Climb the Round Tower
Climb Church of Our Savior aka “Spiral Church”
Climb the tower at Christiansborg Palace

Touristy things I still have to do:

See the Little Mermaid Statue
Find the six Forgotten Giants in the woods of Copenhagen suburbs
Visit the Marble Dome Church
Buy the sugar spiced almonds that smell so good everytime I walk by them near DIS
Visit Kastellet, aka the Citadel, a preserved fortress in the shape of a star
Explore the Botanical Gardens

Fun things to do:

Have a yummy picnic with friends on a nice fall day in Frederiksberg Park
See Tivoli in the Halloween season and also Christmas season
Amager Strand – beach area (need to go while the weather is still nice!)
Explore Vesterbro
Explore the Meatpacking District for cool restaurants and bars
Explore Nørrebro
- Superkilen Park – futuristic urban park
- Assistens Cemetery – Hans Christian Andersen and Kierkegaard are buried here and it’s also a beautiful green space
- Jægersborggade, Blågårdsgade and Elmegade – fun streets to walk down

Places to visit:

Visit Glyptoteket – art museum right by Tivoli, free on Tuesdays
Visit the Danish Design Museum
Visit BLOX – architecture and design center in a really cool building
The Opera House
Copenhagen Zoo – they have pandas
The Blue Planet – northern Europe’s largest aquarium!

Day Trips:

Møns Klint – gorgeous cliffs and beach
Camp Adventure: tower in the forest!
Odense- 3rd largest city in Denmark, home of Hans Christian Andersen
Aarhus – 2nd largest city in Denmark, ARoS Aarhus Art Museum
Dragør – small fishing village not far from Copenhagen
Dyrehaven- Deer park and beautiful grounds just a short train ride away
Go back to the Louisiana Museum – SO COOL

FOOD

Alright. This is the good stuff.

Brunch

Sidecar – need to go for weekend brunch
Mad & Kaffe – tons of small plates for brunch
Wulff & Konstali – brunch just looks amazing, again the small plate concept
Laundromat Cafe – heard good things about pancakes
Grød – they specialize in a ton of different types of oatmeal

General Eats

Torvehallerne “Glass Market” – right near DIS
Go back to Reffen! I couldn’t try everything there even if I went everyday of the semester
MUST try a hotdog stand somewhere, heard good things about one near DIS
Next Door Cafe – they have pancakes that people talk about 🙂
Ramen To Bíiru – ramen and beer
Absalon – communal dinner with a different menu and fun people!
La Banchina – good food, and they also have saunas?
Hafnia Bar – yummy sounding menu and can also do work here
Gasoline Grill- gas station burgers voted some of the best in the world
Cocks and Cows – nicer dinner out
Halifax Burger – a ton of different types of burgers and make your own options
Illum Rooftop – couple of different restaurants on a roof!
- Rossopomodoro for pizza
Mother – pizza place in Vesterbro, heard good things
Barburrito – Mexican food
Frankie’s Pizza – in Frederiksberg, must go for pizza
Momo Wok Box – lunch spot near DIS, asian food
Trattoria SUD – Italian; they have an appetizer board
